Happy Birthday, Mr. L!

September 3, 2006

I don’t like having sad posts on top.

Well, to protect the identity of the innocent, I cannot/could not post this on Mr. L’s actual birthday, which was/is/will be during the time that I have been/will be in NYC, so here it is now. Hmm. It sounds more like a sappy anniversary post, but that’s ok, since I didn’t have a blog on our anniversary.

Happy Birthday

Thank you for asking me out on our first date.

And bringing cats into my life for the first time since I went to college.

And making me matzo ball soup (hint, hint).

And introducing me to new kinds of dancing and new dancer friends.

And for keeping me on my toes by arguing about politics.

And for liking me more than I like myself a lot of the time.

I’ll bake you a chocolate cake when I get home.

Love, love, love,

luolin

Another Good Thing

One Good Thing

August 19, 2006

Because I am annoyed at myself for having written a long post about a minor annoyance, I will try to balance the self-criticism (you’re boring! you can’t write! nobody cares!) with one good thing about myself, which is coincidentally a goal we came up with in my last therapy session. Yes, once upon a time I was ashamed to need therapy, but that was a very long time ago. Now I put my therapy homework on a blog.

I am good at paying bills and managing our finances. That is for yesterday.

I am empathetic. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. One for today.

If anyone is reading this, what is one good thing about yourself?
