Question

July 25, 2007

Google has failed me on this:

I was looking forward to the lack of periods while breastfeeding (that is, if the lochia ever stops), but I just got a prescription for low dose birth control pills, so does that mean they will take over my hormones and I’ll have a period every 28 days?

HP Break

I am planning to stay away from the internet until I acquire and read the new Harry Potter book, to avoid spoilers. Not that I’ve been posting much anyway.

If Zebediah X. has many more days of constant nursing, it won’t take me long to finish the book. I’ve been rereading the previous books, and got through 400 pages in one marathon nursing + sleeping on my lap session. It’s a growth spurt, right? Because otherwise, I would think he was doing it so that we don’t get to used to his normal nursing patterns (”schedule” might be stretching it a bit).

Outside the Box?

I have an appointment with a second psychiatrist (long story), who sent me the paperwork to fill out ahead of time.

For “current and previous counseling, psychotherapy, treatment,” there are four lines. For “current and previous psychotropic medication,” there are five lines. The fact that I need a lot more space, despite being off meds for the past four and a half years, is making me feel like a sicko.

Really, it is just that in the past, I had to try a lot of useless medications before we found ones that worked for me. And I had to find new therapists and psychiatrists when I moved.

Time

July 12, 2007

The past couple of weeks since my mother left have been a lot easier than they might have been, since my husband is at home with me full time. We’ve really only had one day where I thought “we can’t handle this.”   He’s taking care of all the dinners (freshly made and microwaved) and takes care of the baby a lot in the afternoon/evening when I am in great need of a nap. (Before that he is sleeping and doing his exercise/physical therapy. )

However, when he informed me that he would be upgrading his operating system, I could only conclude that he had too much  time on his hands.

“It’s Linux,” he said, “It’s not like I’m trying to upgrade Windows.” Hmm. After a couple of days in which I heard a lot of loud swearing coming from the office and during which my access to the internet was blocked by failed upgrades in process, I am told the upgrade is mostly complete, on the third try.

Sacrifices

July 4, 2007

We used up the last batch of my homemade salad dressing, and my husband suggested buying a bottle of dressing at the store, since who knows when I’ll have time to make more.

I bought something fancy at the gourmet grocery store, but it’s just not as good as homemade.

Or maybe it’s just that, although I am always hungry now, I haven’t been finding anything appetizing recently. I think my mother’s cooking spoiled me.
